Our Doreen is at present languishing in hospital in Stratford upon Avon. They decided to have a few days there on holiday after seeing Hannah off to Canada at Heathrow. Doreen became very ill with violent stomach pains in the early hours of either Thursday or Friday morning. However, Ian is hopeful that she will be coming home today. The medics think that the tooth abscess/antibiotics/all her other drugs are responsible. What a way to end a holiday. Poor love.

Come home soon, Doreen, and get well quickly!!

Doreen had some food today - first since Thursday, so hopefully a good sign.

I've just tried Doreen & Ian's number and there is no reply, so maybe she is still not home. I have left a message and when Ian gets back to us I'll let you know how things are. I have asked for her hospital address so we can send cards etc.

Doreen texted me earlier to say she was waiting for Ian to come and collect her and take her home. She`s still got some pain, but has been told to rest, so hopefully she will do as she`s told, and put her feet up!

Dear Doreen
So sorry you had to be admitted to hospital on your holiday, nothing worse than something like that away from home.

Do hope you will feel very much better soon and that you stay that way.

My last courses of antibiotics had dire effects on my gut. Being six months on strong IV antibiotics last year has left me rather intolerant of them!

Take good care and hope you are home safe soon.
Love, Lizx

Doreen has just phoned and she's home! Very tired but feeling much better. She says she will come on asa she is able.
Can you really see her doing as she's told, Kathleen? It'll be out with the pole and on with the tassels in the morning!

Well I knew I shouldn't have wished for more then 3 days holiday but I didn't expect to get whisked off in an ambulance!
Thankyou everyone for your kind words, you are all such good friends.
I have no pain now but just feel wiped out and a bit shaky. Need to get the morphine out of my system, does anyone know how long that takes?
I managed to lose almost half a stone during those 4 days in hospital but wouldn't recommend the diet!
I'm a bit scared to eat so am just having yogurts and toast but knowing me it won't be long before I'm eating properly again.

LIZ.....it's so good to hear from you again, hope things are starting to improve for you now, you've been through a dreadful time.

Love, Doreen xx

Lovely to see you posting again, Doreen.Just do as the doc says and put your feet up - let Ian wait on you. Have you got a little bell you can ring to summon him when you need a cuppa?!!

I`ve no idea how long the morphine will take to leave your system, but no doubt someone on here will have an idea.

So is Stringfellow`s off this week? It would be good if you can make it, as Jean has some new tassels that she`s dying to show us all, though she won`t give any more details other than that they are "daring, even for her!!!"

Take care,

Kathleen x

hi Doreen,

sorry am late with replying,

got back from my hols end of last week and had two hospital appointments this week re starting on Humira.

really pleased to hear you are now home and on the mend,

can understand you must be feeling wiped out, but hopefully a few days in your own bed and back to normal eating will get you fully recovered.
